These two sides have never liked each other and wouldn’t the bottom-ranked Kangaroos (3-12-1, 14 points) love to continue on their newfound form and confidence against their old rivals the Bombers (7-9, 28 points) this Sunday.
Both North and the Dons have been playing some great footy recently and I do think this has the makings of a cracking contest.
The Bombers will be well-rested after doing it with ease over a hapless Adelaide last Friday night in what was a very relaxing night for the Essendon faithful. It was a big win in a forgettable game.
North Melbourne lived up to all of that Shinboner spirit the club is famous for beating West Coast in Perth on Monday night.
The likes of Jy Simpkin, Ben Cunnington, and Luke Davies-Uniacke played a major role, and if Ben Cunnington isn’t an All-Australian, much like Terry Wallace in Year of the Dogs “I’ll SPEW UP”, not to mention Todd Goldstein breaking the record for most hit-outs in AFL history along with his two vital goals in the second half.
Essendon will go into this match as the clear $1.36 favorite, but don’t expect it to be a blowout like last week.
North Melbourne have covered the line in each of their last six games and will give their all to try and get a win in front of their home fans -with all three of the Kangaroos wins being outside of Victoria this year.
Essendon walloped North Melbourne 141-69 at home last May in the most recent meeting between the two sides.
