Ajax vs Sporting Lisbon Tips - Ajax poised to sweep group

The Dutch giants have secured the top spot in the group and a last 16 berth after winning their first five games.

Ajax won 2-1 over Besiktas in their previous Champions League game. Sébastien Haller scored twice in the second half to lead Erik ten Hag's side to victory.

Ajax followed that win with victories over Sparta Rotterdam (1-0) and Willem (5-0) in the Eredivisie. The Amsterdam club have won their last four games in all competitions and they have not lost in their last ten games.

Mohammed Kudus and Maarten Stekelenburg are on Ajax's injury list.

Sporting are also through to the last 16 and are second to Ajax with nine points.

The Portuguese club beat Borussia Dortmund 3-1 in the last round to secure their third straight win in the Champions League. Pedro Goncalves scored twice while Pedro Porro added one.

Ruben Amorim's side recorded wins over Tondela (2-0) and Benfica (3-1) in their last two games in the Primeira Liga. Sporting have won their last 12 games in all competitions.

Jovane Cabral and Ruben Vinagre will not feature for Sporting as well as Joao Palhinha. Sebastian Coates is also absent after he tested positive for Covid-19.

Ajax thrashed Sporting 5-1 in their game in Lisbon in September. Haller scored four goals while Steven Berghuis added another. Only Paulinho was able to score for the hosts.
