Chelsea head to Brentford for the first time since 2013 when they resume their campaign in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Blues have won three of their last four league matches to stay at the top of the table with 16 points from seven matches.

They crushed Southampton 3-1 before the international break. Trevoh Chalobah struck early before Timo Werner and Ben Chilwell added late goals as Chelsea got back on the winning track after suffering back-to-back 1-0 defeats to Man City (Premier League) and Juventus (Champions League).

Romelu Lukaku was plagued with muscle soreness while playing for Belgium during the break but Chelsea’s top scorer is expected to suit up.

The good news for Chelsea fans is N'Golo Kante and Reece James have both returned to training and could feature on Saturday. Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger and Christian Pulisic are unlikely to feature.

Brentford have also been impressive in their return to the top flight. The Bees are unbeaten in their last three league matches, posting wins at Wolverhampton (2-0) and West Ham (2-1) and holding Liverpool to a 3-3 draw at home. They actually have a four-match unbeaten run in all competitions counting their 7-0 demolition of Oldham Athletic in the third round of the League Cup (Carabao Cup).

Yoane Wissa is a marked man after scoring the game winner against West Ham and the equaliser against Liverpool. He will team up with Bryan Mbeumo and Ivan Toney in leading Brentford’s attacks.

Vitaly Janelt and Kristoffer Ajer are in contention after recovering from their injuries. Midfielder Josh Dasilva, forward Shadon Baptiste and defender Mads Sorensen are ruled out.

This is the first meeting between Brentford and Chelsea since the fourth round of the 2017 FA Cup. The Blues won that match 4-0 at Stamford Bridge.
