Liverpool failed to get a win in their last three Premier League games so they are determined to do better against Brentford on Sunday.
The Reds recorded a 2-2 draw with Chelsea in their last game in the league. Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool a 2-0 advantage after 26 minutes but they conceded two goals before half-time.
As a result, the Reds remain in third place in the league table with 42 points from 20 games.
The Reds are coming off a 4-1 win over Shrewsbury Town in the third round of the FA Cup last Sunday. Fabinho scored two goals while Kaide Gordon and Roberto Firmino were also on target.
Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp will not be able to use Harvey Elliott, Thiago Alcantara, Divock Origi and Nathaniel Phillips in this game due to injury. Also absent are Salah, Mane and Naby Keita, who are all playing in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Brentford suffered a 4-1 defeat to Southampton in their previous Premier League match. Only Vitaly Janelt scored for the Bees while Alvaro had an own goal. It was Brentford’s third loss in their last four league games to drop to 13th place with 23 points from 20 games.
Joshua Dasilva, Mathias Jorgensen, Charlie Goode and Julian Jeanvier have injuries and they will not feature in this game. Also absent is Frank Onyeka, who is playing in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Liverpool and Brentford's first encounter this season surprisingly ended in a 3-3 draw. Diogo Jota, Salah and Curtis Jones scored for the Reds while Ethan Pinnock, Janelt and Curtis Jones struck for the Bees. Brentford last beat Liverpool in 1938 and their only win at Anfield came a year earlier.
