Newcastle United have yet to win in the English Premier League this season while Brentford have lost their last four games.

Newcastle recorded a 1-1 draw with Brighton before the international break and they are currently ranked 19th in the league with five points from 11 games.

Isaac Hayden secured a point for the Magpies in their last game after he scored the equaliser in the 66th minute.

Ryan Fraser and Freddie Woodman are both doubtful here while Paul Dummett is still out.

This is Eddie Howe’s first game as Newcastle’s new manager. He replaced Graeme Jones, who was named interim boss following the departure of Steve Bruce last month.

Brentford lost to Norwich City 2-1 in their last game. They conceded two goals in the first half before Rico Henry scored.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has a long injury list. Among those who will not play here are Zanka, Mathias Jensen, Kristoffer Ajer and David Raya. Also absent are Yoane Wissa, Mads Bech Sörensen and Joshua Dasilva.

Brentford and Newcastle United last met in the League Cup quarter-finals in 2020 where the Bees recorded a 1-0 victory at home behind Dasilva’s goal. This was Brentford's first win in the series since 1948.

Verdict

Newcastle United have a new manager so we are backing them to get their first win of the season.
