England can take a giant step towards qualification for the 2022 World Cup with victory in Poland on Wednesday night.

The Three Lions enjoyed back-to-back 4-0 victories against Hungary and Andorra last week to maintain their perfect start which has put them five points clear of the second-placed Poles at the top of Group I.

Gareth Southgate’s side are 4/6 to win in Warsaw so let’s examine some of the markets and odds in our Poland v England betting tips.

Match Odds

England beat a Poland side missing injured captain Robert Lewandowski 2-1 on the last day of March although it took a fierce shot from Harry Maguire five minutes from time to atone for a mistake form centre-back partner John Stones which cost the hosts a second-half equaliser.

The visitors are 29/10 to win and concede or 11/10 for a victory by under 3.5 goals, but Poland’s confidence will be high after 4-1 and 7-1 victories against Albania and San Marino.

Southgate made 11 changes for the game at Wembley where Leeds striker Patrick Bamford made his debut as a starter but brought on Harry Kane, Jack Grealish and Mason Mount in the second half when England were only one goal up.

We gave a 4-0 win against Andorra prominence at 5/1 in our preview and it’s 6/1 on a 1-1 draw for Wednesday’s game.

A draw would not be the worst result in the world for England which can be backed at 13/5, while even a defeat at 24/5 is unlikely to derail their hopes of booking their flight to Qatar.

Realistically, Poland are playing for second spot but failure to win on Wednesday could see them drop to third with Albania, one point behind, at home to San Marino.

England to win or draw, both teams to score in the second half and over 2.5 goals in the match, just as it was at Wembley more than five months ago, is 9/2, while Poland or a draw in the double chance market is 6/5.

That said, the Poles have beaten England just once in 20 meetings, so a draw looks to be their best hope and a point apiece with goals at both ends is priced at 4/1.

Talking Tactics

England went with a 4-3-3 for the victory over Andorra, but against a superior team Southgate may revert to the 4-2-3-1 he used so successfully against Hungary during which Kalvin Phillips and Declan Rice were superb in holding midfield roles.

Jesse Lingard scored twice on Sunday but he and fellow goalscorer Bukayo Saka are likely to make way for Mount, with Grealish and Raheem Sterling playing behind Kane.

Poland went with a strong starting line-up in San Marino in which Lewandowski and Karol Swiderski led the attack in a 4-4-2.

Goalscorer Odds

Kane has scored in five of his last six England appearances and is the 13/5 favourite to break the deadlock or 21/20 in the any-time market.

Sterling grabbed the opening goal in Budapest and is 4/1 to do so again or 9/5 to find the net, while Maguire can be backed at 17/2 to get on the scoresheet as he did against Poland and Hungary.

Lewandowski is 9/2 to draw first blood and 15/8 to score any time, while Swiderski, who scored in San Marino is 9/1 and 4/1 in the same markets.

Adam Buksa replaced Lewandowski at half-time with the job done and scored a second-half hat-trick, so we make him 7/2 to score again.

We expect England to win and both teams to score in Warsaw.
