Portugal only need a draw against Serbia in their final Group A game on Sunday to advance to next year's FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Both teams have 17 points from seven games with the Portuguese just ahead on goal difference.

Portugal and Serbia's first meeting in Belgrade last March resulted in a 2-2 draw. A brace from Diogo Jota gave the Portuguese a 2-0 lead before Aleksandar Mitrovic and Filip Kostic struck in the second half to force a draw.

Portugal recorded a 0-0 draw with Ireland on Thursday while Serbia beat Azerbaijan 3-1 in their last game last month. The Serbians also beat Qatar 4-0 in a friendly before this game.

Pepe is suspended for Portugal after he got a red card in their last game. Bernardo Silva did not play against the Irish but he is expected to return here.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who has scored six goals in the competition, is determined to lead Portugal in their quest to book a World Cup ticket.

Standing on their way are the Serbians featuring the duo of Mitrovic and Dusan Vlahovic.

Matija Nastastic, Marko Petkovic, Filip Djuricic and Darko Lazovic will not feature for the Serbians in this contest due to injury.
