Sporting Lisbon and Borussia Dortmund are battling for second place in Group C of the UEFA Champions League.

Both teams have six points from four games but Dortmund hold the head-to-head advantage after they recorded a 1-0 home win in September. Donyell Malen's first-half goal was enough for Schwarzgelben to get their second straight win in the group.

The celebration, however, proved to be short-lived after Dortmund suffered 4-0 and 3-1 defeats to Ajax in their subsequent games in the competition.

Marco Rose's boys are coming off a 2-1 win over Stuttgart in the Bundesliga. Malen scored again while Marco Reus added another goal.

Mats Hummels is suspended for Dortmund after he got a red card against Ajax. Thorgan Hazard is also absent after he tested positive for Covid-19 during the international break while Marius Wolf, Nico Schulz and Erling Haaland have injuries.

Sporting, meanwhile, recorded 4-1 and 4-0 wins against Besiktas in their last two Champions League games.

Sebastián Coates scored twice in their first win while Pablo Sarabia and Paulinho added a goal each. Sarabia and Paulinho were again on target in their rematch in Lisbon while Pote registered a brace.

Sporting beat Varzim 2-1 in the Taca de Portugal in their last outing to extend their winning streak in all competitions to nine games.

Coates will not play here due to injury as well as Tiago Tomas. Jovane Cabral and Ruben Vinagre are both doubtful.
