We look at the odds to explore potential Tottenham v Aston Villa betting tips as the hosts bid to get back on track after three successive defeats.

Tottenham come into this on the back of a 3-1 defeat by north London rivals Arsenal, while Aston Villa are in buoyant mood after a 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Tottenham have lost their last three Premier League games by an aggregate score of 9-1. They last lost four in a row in the top flight in November 2004 when losing six in a row.

Having opened the season and going top of the table with three 1-0 victories, the wheels have come off. Arsenal, who were bottom of the table after three games, are now above their bitter rivals in the table, following their emphatic victory over the Lilywhites last weekend.

Tottenham’s poor form is mirrored by Harry Kane. England’s captain has not scored in any of his last five Premier League appearances, with the striker last having a longer drought in the competition in his first six games of the 2015-16 campaign. Tottenham are 2.15 to win, while Kane has the same price to score at any time.

Kane made up for his EPL woes by registering a hat-trick in their 5-1 home rout of NS Mura in the Europa Conference League on Thursday. Dele Alli (penalty) and Giovani Lo Celso also netted for the Spurs, who seized the top spot in Group G.

The pessimism surrounding Jack Grealish’s move to Manchester City now appears to have dissipated as Aston Villa have flourished since his departure. They have won three of their six games and sit in eighth place following successive wins over Everton and Manchester United.

Villa are seeking a third consecutive Premier League victory for the first time since winning their first four games last season.

Meanwhile, the last time the Villans won three consecutive top-flight games without conceding was in December 2009 (a run of four). They are 3.5 to win and it is 6.5 that they win to nil.

This fixture usually has a positive outcome, as only one of the last 18 meetings has ended in a draw. The draw is on offer at 3.5 in the Tottenham v Aston Villa betting tips.

Tottenham have won 10 of their last 12 league games against Villa, though the two defeats in that run have come in home games (1-0 in April 2015 and 2-1 in May 2021).

They have not lost back-to-back games against the Villans since September 2008 and the visitors last won consecutive away games against the London side in August 1995.

Spurs are 1.33 to win or draw the game on the Double Chance market in the Tottenham v Aston Villa betting tips.

Eight of the last 13 meetings in all competitions saw three or more goals scored and it is 1.85 that there will be over 2.5 total goals scored this time.

Both sides scored in just six of the last 16 meetings, so the odds of 2.1 that one or other side will fail to net are interesting.

Villa’s defence, while still wary of Kane, will also face the threat of Son Heung-min, who has scored six goals and provided four assists in his last 10 home games. The South Korean star is 2.5 to score at any time and given his penchant for popping up with the winning goal, his odds of 5.00 odds to score the last goal may be of interest.

Likewise, Tottenham will fear Danny Ings. The Villa striker has scored six goals in his last six appearances against Tottenham in all competitions, including four in the last three games. He is 2.5 to net at any time and 9.5 to score two or more.

Buoyed by their lopsided win in the Europa Conference League, we are backing the Spurs to beat Aston Villa.
