Holders Manchester City face a tough last-16 League Cup clash on Wednesday against West Ham.

West Ham are currently fourth in the Premier League table following Sunday’s 1-0 home win against Tottenham. David Moyes has developed a core group of players who have started to believe in their ability.

They have won their first three Europa League group games and are almost certain to go on to the knockout phase.

They have lost just twice in the Premier League - both to late goals at home to Manchester United and Brentford following their first two Thursday night Europa League games - and have looked capable of scoring from any position, despite having just one recognised striker in Michail Antonio.

The Hammers are looking to become just the second side to eliminate both Manchester clubs in the same League Cup campaign after Arsenal in 1977-78 having won at Old Trafford 1-0 in the previous round courtesy of Manuel Lanzini's goal.

Vladimir Coufal and Alex Kral are unlikely to feature for the Hammers.

After beating Brighton 4-1 at the Amex on Saturday, City are two points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea and reached the last 16 of this competition by thrashing Wycombe 6-1 in the third round with Riyad Mahrez netting twice.

Ferran Torres remains sidelined while Liam Delap is unlikely to feature. Another doubt is Raheem Sterling.

Pep Guardiola’s side are the holders having beaten Tottenham 1-0 in the final last season. They are seeking a seventh League Cup success in nine seasons.

These sides have met 114 times and a positive result is usually the outcome, with just 18 matches being drawn.

West Ham have been eliminated from both of their League Cup ties with Manchester City, losing a third-round replay 2-1 in 1984-85 and going down 9-0 on aggregate in the 2013-14 semi-final.

City have won 10 of their last 11 meetings with West Ham in all competitions, with the Citizens netting 33 goals in that run.

Man City are in for a tough test but we expect them to survive West Ham in this duel.
