Jon Rahm bids to add to his haul of European Tour victories at Valderrama Golf Club this week and we look at the odds to find some Andalucia Masters betting tips.

The Andalucia Masters, played in Sotogrande, Cadiz, was first played in 2010 but there have been just five renewals since.

Sergio Garcia has made the event his own in recent years with three victories (2011, 2017 and 2018), while Christiaan Bezuidenhout (2019) and John Catlin (2020) were the most recent winners.

The Andalucia Masters will be the fifth of six tournaments held on Spanish soil in the 2021 Race to Dubai, with next week’s Mallorca Open bringing the curtain down before they head to Portugal.

Valderrama became the first continental course to host the Ryder Cup in 1997 and has hosted 16 Volvo Masters and two Amex Championships.

The 7,028-yards par 71 has bountiful large bunkers and trees alongside its narrow fairways. Accuracy from tee to green is essential and the small greens are usually lightning quick.

Rahm is a clear cut favourite after coming up short as two-time defending champion at the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid last week. He had to settle for a tie for 17th on 13 under par, six shots behind compatriot Rafa Cabrera Bello, who won the Spanish Open after a play-off with Adri Arnaus.

Rahm, with 13 European and PGA Tour victories to his name, is the world number one and finished joint runner-up here in 2020 so could well justify favouritism.

Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick is next in the betting market. He has had a break since the Ryder Cup defeat and the Sheffield man’s game should be suited to Valderrama. The world number 27 hit plenty of greens in regulation and looks worth considering for Andalucia Masters betting tips.

Bernd Wiesberger has been playing some solid golf – including a runner-up effort at the European Masters and a T12 at last week’s Spanish Open – although the concern is that he did not fare well in this tournament the last time it was played. He was in good form, too, coming off the back of a top-five finish in his previous tournament, yet posted an 11-over-par total.

Arnaus was a little unfortunate not to win the Spanish Open last week. He went down to Cabrera Bello in a play-off but is among the contenders to win this week. He has form here, too, finishing T2 to Bezuidenhout in 2019. His game was clearly coming together with a T12 in the recent Italian Open and he also played well for three rounds at St Andrew’s two weeks ago. If he can put the trauma of missing out last week behind him, the Spaniard is a viable contender.

There is no reason why Cabrera Bello, having ended a four-year victory drought by knocking in a 10-footer to beat Arnaus with a birdie on the first extra hole, should not contend again.

If Guido Migliozzi can find some consistency to match his talent – he missed the cut last weekend after previously posting a solid T17 finish at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship – he won’t be long in winning.

Joost Luiten finished runner-up here in 2017 and while he has not won since taking the Oman Open over three years ago, his game has been solid and he has posted seven top-20 finishes in his last 15 tournaments.

Alvaro Quiros was also a joint runner-up here in 2019 and played solidly last week to finish nine-under and T39. On home turf, he may well contend.

Another golfer who finished nine-under last week was Edoardo Molinari, who has three top-10s since May, including a T5 at the recent Italian Open. This course should play to his strengths, although his results here have not been particularly convincing.

Jon Rahm is a clear cut favourite to win in Sotogrande and we are backing that to happen.
