Miami’s offensive play-calling in their overtime loss to the Las Vegas Raiders last week was generally poor, to put it mildly.
It has not helped their cause that Jacoby Brissett is deputising for injured QB Tua Tagovailoa, as he does not yet appear confident in changing the plays at the line of scrimmage – which he will need to do if the Dolphins are to stay in the hunt after losing to the Raiders and Buffalo Bills. He will not be able to return until October 11, after being placed on injured reserve with fractured ribs.
Brissett goes up against his former team on Sunday. The Colts are 0-3 and will be short-handed. All-Pro left guard Quenton Nelson, All-Pro Bowl linebacker Darius Leonard, tight end Jack Doyle and defensive end Kwity Paye all missed practice time this week, while QB Carson Wentz and running-back Jonathan Taylor were limited participants.
The Colts bid to win a fourth consecutive game in Miami for the first time in history and are 2.05 to do so. The Dolphins, blanked 35-0 by Buffalo in their home opener, are 1.8 to win and are 1.91 to successfully overcome a 2.0-point handicap.
