Buffalo can lay down an early marker by winning and covering in their season-opener.

Josh Allen but he can make some key plays at key moments and the defense can trouble a new-look Steelers offensive line and aging QB. This could result in a similar outcome to last season when the Bills covered in a low-scoring game.

Last season, Buffalo enjoyed their best campaign since the run of four straight Super Bowl appearances between 1990 and 1993.

The Bills won the AFC East for the first time since 1995 and made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game. Buffalo lost to Kansas City, but they are fancied to be a serious contender for Super Bowl LVI.

Sean McDermott’s team were ultra-reliable in the betting, going 12-1 straight up as a favourite and 7-2 straight up as a home favourite. In terms of the spread, they were 11-5 in the regular season, going 6-2 at home.

Pittsburgh, meanwhile, ended a two-year playoff absence as they won the AFC North with a 12-4 record last season. The Steelers edged Baltimore and Cleveland to win the division crown, but their season fizzled out badly. They won their first 11 games of the season but the wheels fell off when they lost at home to Washington.

The Steelers lost three of their final four regular season games and then lost at home to Cleveland on Wildcard weekend. Pittsburgh covered in 8 of their first 11 games but during their late-season slump they covered just twice.

Verdict

There could be a sense of déjà vu as this game unfolds. We could see a repeat of the 2020 season.
Pittsburgh will slow down Josh Allen, but not enough to deny Buffalo the victory and another cover at home.
