We expect the league-leading Melbourne Storm (14-0-2, 30 points) to get the job done again this week when they meet the Newcastle Knights (7-0-9, 16 points).
The Storm in 2021 are reminiscent of Tiger Woods circa 2000, operating at levels rarely seen before. They have won 13 on the trot, covering 12 of those on the back of 12 wins of 16-plus over that stretch. They have topped 40 points 10 times this year, a premiership record. All this with Ryan Papenhuyzen missing 10 games, Harry Grant missing nine, Dale Finucane six and Cameron Munster four, among plenty more games missed.
All five of their Origin stars are named to back up and likely will with Papenhuyzen and Grant again out.
Newcastle get some big inclusions with Daniel Saifiti and Tyson Frizell back. The club will be sweating on Kalyn Ponga backing up, no certainty considering his fragility this year.
The Storm have won nine straight against Melbourne. They have covered 14 of 20 off scoring 40-plus and 21 of 31 as a double digit favourite. The Knights have covered just 3 of 15 off a win.
