The New Zealand Warriors picked up an incredible 18-16 win over the Tigers in Round 20.
Bruised, battered and a shell of the team they named to start the year, the Warriors dug deep and waited for the Tigers to capitulate in front of them. While the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks produced some nice moments, they were no match for the Sea Eagles last week.
Chanel Harris-Tavita makes a welcome return for the Warriors which pushes Peta Hiku to the centres and Adam Pompey out of the side. Addin Fonua-Blake, Matt Lodge and Josh Curran are also back with Jamayne Taunoa-Brown, Ben Murdoch-Masila and Taniela Otukolo out.
The Sharks have Jesse Ramien back which allows Siosifa Talakai to shift back to the second row. Matt Moylan is a chance of returning after being named among the reserves.
This one could be anything given the inconsistency of the two sides. The Warriors pulled off an unlikely victory last week, but did need the Tigers to out-Tiger themselves to register the 18-16 win.
Meanwhile, the Sharks defence has fallen to pieces in recent weeks and their promising attack hasn’t been able to make up the difference. It’s one the Warriors should find success in the middle given Cronulla’s dodgy defence in the centre third.
The Sea Eagles picked them to pieces with Tom Trbojevic finding space and creating points through the middle of the field. Fonua-Blake and Lodge linked up well in their last match together and the return of Harris-Tavita provides them with a direct ball player at the line.
