Novak Djokovic and Matteo Berrettini clash in a rematch of the Wimbledon Final as they lock horns in the US Open quarter-finals.

Djokovic should repeat his victory, but expect the Italian to take a set with over 32.5 games tipped.

It’s been a curious US Open from Djokovic so far, losing the first set in his last two matches against Kei Nishikori and Jenson Brooksby respectively.

Ultimately he has found ways to win, and he looks physically in good shape for the battles ahead.

He is just three wins from completing the calendar Grand Slam – something that hasn’t been done in the men’s game since 1969.

Berrettini competed in just one warm-up event prior to the US Open, losing to Felix Auger-Aliassime at Cincinnati in the round of 16.

Perhaps, after a long grass season in which he won at Queen’s Club and got to the Wimbledon final, the rest did him good, with some long matches in his journey to the quarter-finals in New York.

He will need to serve better than ever against the best returner in the game.

The pair have met three times on the ATP Tour, with Djokovic winning each match. Their last meeting was in the Wimbledon final earlier this year, where Djokovic won in four sets.

Verdict

Djokovic isn’t in vintage form at the moment, but he matches up well with the Italian and should win through to the semis. It should go to at least four sets, making over 33.5 game the best bet.
