Well here we are, 17 years after their first fight we are set to see Nick Diaz v Robbie Lawler do battle inside the octagon again.
Diaz (26-9, 2 NC) got the KO win in the second round way back in 2004 at UFC 47 but we have not seen him fight since a unanimous decision loss to Anderson Silva in January 2015 (that was overturned to a NC).
To the newest generation of UFC fans, Nick will be known as Nate’s brother but once upon a time this was not the case. Although Diaz never won UFC gold, he has wins over Gleison Tibau, Frank Shamrock and B.J Penn.
Lawler (28-15, 1 NC) has been active while Diaz has been away and although his recent record does not make good viewing, he has looked healthy and competitive.
He has four losses in a row but one was horseshit against Ben Askren when Herb Dean waved the fight off because he thought Lawler was unconscious.
He was not.
The other three losses were against top quality opponents in the division. All three were decision losses against Rafael dos Anjos, Colby Covington and Neil Magny.
The punters are finding this one impossible to work out and at time of publish, we did not have a favourite.
