Chelsea Form & Team News
Chelsea will come into Sunday’s game off the back of two straight defeats. Their opening day destruction at the hands of Manchester United was followed by a cruel penalty shoot-out defeat to Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup.
While Lampard’s men will be tired from playing in Europe mid-week, there are still four days between the games, and Lampard will be smart enough to allow the players a chance to rest. One major boost for the side will be the performance of N’Golo Kante in Istanbul. There had been questions raised about the Frenchman’s fitness but he managed to play all 120 minutes of the game, putting in a man of the match performance too.
After starting an inexperienced side against United at Old Trafford, Lampard’s team selection was stronger in Istanbul and it showed on the pitch. The team took one of the best teams in Europe to a draw in 120 minutes, and confidence will have been restored somewhat after that.
Christian Pulisic had an incredibly impressive debut for the club in Istanbul as well, and he will have firmly placed himself in Lampard’s plans for the weekend.
Lampard needs to find a way of balancing his team’s range of youth and experience. He will have learned from last weekend’s experiences and should be stronger on Saturday. That being said, he needs to sure up a defence that has now conceded 6 goals in 2 encounters.
The home side are currently valued at 1.87 to pick up the win at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
Leicester Form & Team News
Leicester come into Sunday’s game after a fairly uninspiring 0-0 draw with Wolves at home last weekend.
The Foxes have looked exciting under Brendan Rodgers since the Welshman took over earlier in the year, and their dynamic playing style could lead to a highly entertaining encounter with Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.
Jamie Vardy will, as he so often does, lead the line for the former Premier League champions on Sunday afternoon. He will be supported by Aroye Perez as Rogers is likely to start with the same 11 that he played against Wolves last weekend.
The last time these two teams met at Stamford Bridge, Leicester were the surprise 1-0 winners in the encounter. In fact, Chelsea failed to defeat Leicester at all last season, with their other game ending 0-0 on the final weekend of the campaign.
Chelsea vs Leicester Analysis- Lampard gets his fairytale return
While Leicester’s recent record against Chelsea is reasonably impressive, Lampard will be desperate to get a victory on his return to Stamford Bridge. The former Derby manager has had two games to assess his team, and if their upward trend continues this weekend, then they should be able to snatch a tight victory.
Goals between the two games have been tight in recent seasons, with only one of their last four encounters producing over 2.5 goals. An under 2.5 goals bet on Saturday would present you with odds of 1.90.
Chelsea vs Leicester Tips- Chelsea to win a very close game
Given their recent records against one another, this game looks to be a very tight encounter. Both teams have a strong mixture of youth and experience and both are slowly finding their rhythm in the new season.
Chelsea to win at 1.72 with bet365 presents great value, as does a bet on under 2.5 goals being scored at 1.90, also with bet365.
