Manchester City Form & Team News
Manchester City looked dominant on the opening day of the Premier League. The reigning champions demolished West Ham 5-0 away from home, with Raheem Sterling grabbing himself a hattrick. That result has put The Citizens at the top of the league and they will intend to stay there for the rest of the campaign.
City are absolutely unstoppable at The Etihad. The Manchester club have won 19 of their last 20 games at the stadium, and have scored 3 or more goals in over half of those games.
Pep Guardiola is likely to stick with the same starting 11 that started the game away at West Ham. He may consider giving new signing Joao Cancelo a run-out, but the defender is unlikely to start the game.
Tottenham Form & Team News
Tottenham were also winners on the opening weekend, but their victory was never quite as comfortable as City’s. The North London club won 3-1 against Aston Villa thanks to two very late goals from Harry Kane and actually trailed the game for over an hour.
Spurs did not travel well in the Premier League at the end of last season. Pochettino’s men lost their last six away games in the division and they couldn’t have asked for a tougher start to their new campaign away from home.
The club will still be without Son due to a suspension the South Korean star picked up at the end of last season, which means Lucas Moura is likely to continue in the starting 11.
Christian Eriksen, who has been heavily linked with a move away from the club, came off the bench against Aston Villa, and it is uncertain as to whether or not he will be given the nod to start this weekend.
Manchester City vs Tottenham Analysis- City’s dominance to continue
Despite being considered the most likely team to gatecrash the top two’s party in the Premier League, Tottenham are going to struggle away at City.
The Etihad is the most feared stadium to visit in the Premier League, and given Tottenham’s dreadful away form, their most optimistic fans would be foolish to expect a victory. Bet365 are currently pricing the club all the way out at 8.50 to pick up the unlikely win.
City have already established themselves as the team to beat with a dominant victory over West Ham on the opening day, and a dominant performance against another top 4 side will really put the frighteners on the rest of the division.
Manchester City vs Tottenham Tips- Value in the handicaps
The bookies have Manchester City down as heavy 1.33 favourites, which means that value needs to be found elsewhere for this match.
The handicap market has City -1 at 1.90 with bet365, which is considerably better value and one that is also likely to payout. City’s dominant home form, coupled with Spurs’ terrible away record means that City should be able to bang a few in on Saturday.
A correct scoreline pick of Manchester City 2-0 is also excellent value at 8.50 from bet365. The Champions are in free-scoring mode at the moment and Spurs will struggle to break them down.
