Tottenham Hotspur Vs Aston Villa Match Preview and Tips
Tottenham will start their first full season in their new stadium this weekend when they welcome newly-promoted, Aston Villa.
Both teams will be out to start the season strongly, with Spurs hoping to bounce back from their cruel Champions League final defeat back in May.
Tottenham FC Form & Team News
Tottenham will come into the new Premier League campaign absolutely full of confidence having picked up wins over some pretty big sides during pre-season.
Pocchetino's men registered victories against Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan during their pre-season tour, and this will no doubt give them a huge boost coming into the new campaign.
The North London club failed to capitalise on early momentum in the latter part of last season, and they slumped over the finish line to secure a Champions League spot, winning just one of their last five games.
The club's squad was stretched as they also reached the Champions League final, and they should be back to their best when the new season kicks off this weekend.
Pocchetino is likely to hand a debut to record signing Tanguy Ndombele, who joined this summer from Lyon.
Spurs will line up without key players Son and Ali this weekend, with the former still serving a suspension and the latter having picked up an injury this past week.
Aston Villa Form & Team News
Aston Villa will make their long-awaited return to the Premier League after two years away after winning the Championship playoff final back in May.
The club have been incredibly busy over the summer, bringing in 12 new signings. Manager, Dean Smith is likely to hand a lot of those signings their debut this weekend, with all eyes being on Brazlian striker, Wesley.
Smith has a fully fit squad to choose from and will be hoping that his team can be competitive at this level once again.
Tottenham vs Aston Villa Analysis- Spurs to come out on top of a lively encounter
As with all early-season games, it is difficult to analyse this fixture too much, especially given that Aston Villa have effectively got an entirely new squad for this campaign.
Spurs will want to hit the ground running after a poor end to last campaign and given that they have an incredibly well-settled starting 11 and tactical approach to their game, they should have more than enough in the tank to register a victory over Villa.
Villa are one of the biggest mysteries in the division this year. Dean Smith's men played some excellent football last season and have signed very well over the summer, but fans are cautious that the same was said about Fulham last year.
Best Bets for Tottenham Vs Aston Villa- Over/Under and goals markets offer good value
Both of these teams play exciting football and it seems unlikely that this game will be without goals. Over 2.5 goals at 1.66 with Bet365 is a good value bet.
Both teams to score at 2.10, also with Bet365, is brilliant value given the firepower and the attacking prowess that both of these teams possess. Villa have scored 3 goals or more in 4 of their last 5 pre-season games, meaning that there is every chance they will find the net at Tottenham on Saturday.
