The odds of a UK general election taking place before the end of 2019 have been slashed once again, as Prime Minister, Boris Johnson continues to feel pressure from all sides of the house.

After slashing their odds from 1.80 to 1.73 last week, Ladbrokes have slashed them even further this week, dropping them to a very low 1.44.

This follows the announcement on Friday that Boris Johnson has informed MPs that they can not take any time off work between now and October 31st, which is the date for Brexit. This announcement has led many to speculate that Johnson may be planning to call a general election before then to make sure he can get a majority to support his Brexit plans.

Ladbrokes have also changed odds on the most likely month of the general election, with November 2019 now being their favourite at odds of 2.37, suggesting that Johnson may try and hold off on an election until once Breixt has passed.

Interestingly, Johnson's appointment has tipped the Conservatives back into favour with the bookies, with the party now having odds of 1.57 to get the most seats if there were to be an election called this year.

With odds falling at such a rapid rate, now is the time to bet on a general election taking place before the end of 2019. If Johnson were to call an election, then there has to be at least a six week period between the announcement and the election itself, meaning that if he hasn't called one by September 19th, then we won't see one before the proposed Brexit date.
