What is a lucky 63 bet?

A lucky 63 bet is a combination bet that features a mind-boggling 63 individual bets placed on just six selections. The bet is effectively the same as the Heinz bet, only this time, you have covered all possible outcomes by not only placing the 57 bets used in a Heinz bet but also by placing six extra single bets.

The sheer amount of bets involved in placing a lucky 63 bet is enough to turn most punters away from placing one, but there are some benefits to placing such a bet, just as there are also some serious downsides.

The idea of placing a lucky 63 bet for the first time can be quite frightening for those not accustomed to it, so we here at Bonus Bets have put the following guide to help you get through it.

Calculating odds and an example

The first thing you should do when placing a lucky 63 bet is head over to your chosen bookmakers website, select your sport and then make your six selections.

Getting your head around exactly what a lucky 63 bet consists of is enough to give you a headache, and thankfully most bookmakers recognise this and will offer you the option of them doing it for you when you choose six selections.

That being said, not all bookmakers will do this, and you should be aware of exactly what you are betting on.

The following, rather lengthy, break down of what a lucky 63 bet looks like uses horse racing as an example:

First, the easiest of all the bets to place- the six single bets:

1) Horse A to win their race
2) Horse B to win their race
3) Horse C to win their race
4) Horse D to win their race
5) Horse E to win their race
6) Horse F to win their race

Next up, the sixfold accumulator:

1) Horses A, B, C, D, E and F to win their respective races.

After that, the six fivefold accumulators:

1) Horses A, B, C, D and E to win their respective races
2) Horses A, B, C, E and F to win their respective races
3) Horses A, B, D, E and F to win their respective races
4) Horses A, C, D, E and F to win their respective races
5) Horses A, B, C, D and F to win their respective races
6) Horses B, C, D, E and F to win their respective races

Things gets a bit more complicated with the 15 fourfold accumulators:

1) Horses A, B, C and D to win their respective races
2) Horses A, B, C and E to win their respective races
3) Horses A, B, C and F to win their respective races
4) Horses A, B, D, and E to win their respective races
5) Horses A, B, D and F to win their respective races
6) Horses A, B, E and F to win their respective races
7) Horses A, C, D and E to win their respective races
8) Horses A, C, D and F to win their respective races
9) Horses A, C, E and F to win their respective races
10) Horses A, D, E and F to win their respective races
11) Horses B, C, D and E to win their respective races
12) Horses B, C, D and F to win their respective races
13) Horses B, C, E and F to win their respective races
14) Horses B, D, E and F to win their respective races
15) Horses C, D, E and F to win their respective races

The biggest part is then the 20 trebles:

1) Horses A, B and C to win their respective races
2) Horses A, B and D to win their respective races
3) Horses A, B and E to win their respective races
4) Horses A, B and F to win their respective races
5) Horses A, C and D to win their respective races
6) Horses A, C and E to win their respective races
7) Horses A, C and F to win their respective races
8) Horses A, D and E to win their respective races
9) Horses A, D and F to win their respective races
10) Horses A, E and F to win their respective races
11) Horses B, C and D to win their respective races
12) Horses B, C and E to win their respective races
13) Horses B, C and F to win their respective races
14) Horses B, D and E to win their respective races
15) Horses B, D and F to win their respective races
16) Horses B, E and F to win their respective races
17) Horses C, D and E to win their respective races
18) Horses C, D and F to win their respective races
19) Horses C, E and F to win their respective races
20) Horses D, E and F to win their respective races

Finally, there are 15 doubles to place:

1) Horses A and B to win their respective races
2) Horses A and C to win their respective races
3) Horses A and D to win their respective races
4) Horses A and E to win their respective races
5) Horses A and F to win their respective races
6) Horses B and C to win their respective races
7) Horses B and D to win their respective races
8) Horses B and E to win their respective races
9) Horses B and F to win their respective races
10) Horses C and D to win their respective races
11) Horses C and E to win their respective races
12) Horses C and F to win their respective races
13) Horses D and E to win their respective races
14) Horses D and F to win their respective races
15) Horses E and F to win their respective races

Thankfully, most bookmakers will break this down for you so you won’t have to work out a lot on your own, but it can definitely be worth doing some calculations before you place your bet as to make sure you understand exactly what you placing your money on and whether or not it is worth it.

Advantages of placing a lucky 63 bet

Lucky 63 bets can be incredibly risky to play, especially given the sheer size of them.

Placing such a high-risk bet can lead to some serious rewards, and if you have a strong incline about six favourites, then this type of bet can be hugely advantageous.

It also offers a lot more insurance than other types of bets like the Heinz bet or just a simple accumulator.
One of the biggest advantages here is that you only need one of your selections to come in to ensure you don’t lose completely. That being said, unless you have backed an outsider, you are unlikely to see any profit off the back of that outcome.

Disadvantages of placing a lucky 63 bet

High stake bets always come with a degree of risk and unless you have backed very clear favourites, you could stand to lose an awful lot of money on a lucky 63 bet.

With your stake being multiplied by 63, a simple £1 will be turned into £63 if you click the lucky 63 bet and once you start multiplying that, you are looking at some serious losses if things don’t work out for you.

Playing this type of bet long term is not advised and should only really be considered if you feel very comfortable with your six selections.

Types of sports you can place a lucky 63 bet on

A lucky 63 bet can be placed on a wide variety of sports, with most punters often preferring to place it on football or horse racing.

It can also be popular with sports such as golf, tennis and boxing. It can also be transferred over to non-sporting bets, with elections being another popular choice for this kind of bet.
